The Physical Setting / Earth Science

Kevin AllisonTeacher:
Kevin Allison, Shenendehowa H.S., Clifton Park

Kevin has been an Earth Science teacher at Shenendehowa High School since 1997.  He has also taught General Science 9, and 8th Grade Physical Science.  He also tutors students in earth science outside of school.  Previously, he taught 7th grade life science at Estee Middle School in the Gloversville School district. 

Kevin enjoys mountain biking and spending time with his wife and two children.  During the summer, he frequents Mt. Snow, Killington and Jiminy Peak for some downhill mountain biking adventures.

He is a Union College graduate with a B.S. degree in geology and a Masters degree in teaching. During his time at Union College, he traveled to Romania and the Bahamas to study Geology.

Some Helpful Tips for the Exam:

 When answering multiple choice question:

1. Take you time and read the entire question and all the choices.

2. Check you reference tables to see if there is any information that helps.

3. Try to get rid of unlikely answers (distracters).

4. Go through all choices a second time to choose the best one.

 

When answering constructed response questions:

1. Graphs and diagrams should be done in pencil.

2. If there is a reading passage, read the whole passage first and then re-read it after you look at the questions.

3. Read and follow every direction given!!!

 

USE YOUR REFERENCE TABLES!!!

 

At the End of the Exam:

1. Make sure all answers are in ink except graphs, diagrams.  If you have machine scored Part A, B-1 that can be in pencil.

2. Make sure you leave no blank answers.

3. Make sure you sign the declaration at the bottom of the Part A, B-1 answer sheet.
